White – Bonded Fillings in Costa Rica
If you have a need for some fillings, the dental professionals at Sonria Dental Clinic welcome your visit.
Anyone who has had a cavity knows what a filling is. But for those of us lucky enough to have made it to adulthood without a cavity, fillings are small repairs performed on teeth that have received light damage, typically due to cavities that were treated early.
In the past, the most common type of fillings were silver amalgams. Today, amalgams are becoming obsolete thanks to the development of white bonded fillings.
White bonded fillings offer the following advantages over amalgams:
- They are mercury-free
Amalgams are made out of a special type of mercury alloy, which includes at least 50% mercury, but also silver, tin, copper and other metals. Many patients also have concern about the side effects of mercury on their health and the environment. White bonded fillings do not have mercury.
- They match the color of the teeth
Amalgams are dark and very visible, and some patients are too aware of them when they laugh, talk, or eat in public. White bonded fillings look just like natural tooth enamel.
- They are bonded to the teeth
Unlike amalgams, white fillings are bonded to the teeth, giving them extra stability and durability. Also, they have a much smaller risk of coming out than amalgams.
