How to Deal with Your Fear of the DentistJuly 23, 2014
Do you know the difference between dental implants and fixed dental bridges? Most patients don’t.
At Sonria Dental Boutique, we frequently sit down with patients to discuss these treatments. We help walk you through the details, and feel it is really important for patients to understand the different procedures so they can ask questions and we can determine the best course of action for them.
What is a Dental Implant?
Dental implants are mounts or frames that are inserted into the jawbone where teeth have been lost. After they have been added into the jawbone, the dentist can attach replacement teeth on top of them. Dental implants are a permanent solution to missing teeth. They look natural, and are easy to bite and chew with. There are may types of dental implants and only a dental specialist can help you determine the best solution.
What is a Fixed Dental Bridge?
Fixed bridges are non-removable false teeth that are placed over existing teeth. Initially, bridges are less expensive than implants, but when comparing cost vs. value, the implants are more cost-effective and the better treatment option if the patient is candidate for implants.
